Do more of what you love.
When you commit to taking care of yourself because you recognize that you matter, you might find it easier to succeed at weight loss.
It’s important to make time for yourself. It reenergizes you, helps you discover new passions, and affirms that you matter. But taking time that’s just for you often gets lost in our busy schedules. Then we get stressed—which doesn’t help weight loss.
- Take 1 minute today and focus on your breath with your eyes closed. When you’re done, write down how you felt.
- Take an “Awe Walk” one evening. Post a photo on connect of something you noticed on your walk, something that was novel (maybe a beautiful sculpture) or was physically vast (the city skyline).
- Write down 3 things that went well today. Taking the time to recognize your wins can give you the boost to keep going!
- Try “Savoring Meditation.” Take a bite of something with a lot of flavor and texture (like a juicy plum). Focus on the different sensations—the puckers of the skin, the juicy inside, the feel of it in your mouth. When you eat slowly and mindfully, you can take time to appreciate what you’re eating—so much more satisfying then scarfing it down.
